Rey Bennett — Founder & Chief Environmental Organizer

Hey there! I’m Rey, and I’m the heart and soul behind CommUnity Collective Connecticut. In 2024 I moved from Texas to Connecticut, and now that I am here, I’m excited to roll up my sleeves and become part of this vibrant community. I want to help it grow and thrive—working alongside others to clean up, beautify, and support the people and places that make this state so special. As a social work student, I’m deeply passionate about advocacy and creating positive change, which is at the core of everything I do—whether it’s organizing a cleanup or standing up for those who need a voice.

When I’m not organizing CommUnity Events or working on school projects you’ll find me going for walks with my partner Rowen (these walks are actually how I got the idea to start this whole thing —seeing areas of our neighborhood that needed some TLC). I also have three cats that need daily wrangling, diving into a good book, or dreaming up new ways to make the world a little less cluttered.

Fun fact: I love a good spreadsheet almost as much as a successful cleanup!

Rowen Bennett - Chief Experience Officer

Hi, I’m Rowen! I’m bringing my experience as a UX researcher to the CommUnity Collective Connecticut team to make sure our website is not only user-friendly but accessible to everyone. I believe that every voice should be heard and every user experience should be seamless. I’m excited to help improve the website’s accessibility and usability, so that everyone can easily connect with and participate in our community-driven efforts.

In addition to my work on the website, I’ll also be ensuring and coordinating accessibility at our events, making sure that all participants—regardless of ability—can take part and feel included
